MY JOURNEY

My name is Charmaine Thompson, and I’m the founder of Fighting Fit & Feeling Fabulous.

My journey in martial arts began at just 13 years old at Kirkburton Karate Club, and 37 years later, my passion is stronger than ever.

Over the decades, I’ve trained in Karate, Mixed Martial Arts, Aiki-Jutsu, Kickboxing, Taekwondo, and Kung Fu — earning several black belts along the way.

Martial arts has shaped who I am, and it continues to inspire the work I do today.

I qualified as a fitness instructor at 18, starting out in aerobics before expanding into a wide range of fitness classes taught in gyms and private settings.

More recently, I became a Boxercise instructor, which sparked a new mission: to create a space that welcomes everyone, especially those who may not feel confident in a traditional gym environment.

Our classes blend fitness, boxercise, and martial arts to create a full-body workout that improves cardio, strength, technique, and coordination.

We train hard and laugh hard, but most importantly, we lift each other up.

This is more than a fitness class; it’s about building confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging.
